Churning the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Arrival+

Recently, my CSP has posted it's $95 annual fee for the second year. Since the 24 month restriction for the signup bonus has already passed, I opted to downgrade the card to a Freedom and will apply for a new CSP next month. Likewise, the Arrival+ was downgraded to an Arrival last year to avoid the annual fee, but it can be reapplied a month later according to various data points across the internet. I called Chase up and was able to have customer service perform a product change of my CSP to a Chase Freedom. The annual fee was credited back. I opted for this option instead of cancelling because I had the card for 2 years already and it would negatively affect my credit score if it fell off my credit report. This year will net me another 50,000 Ultimate Rewards points from Chase and 50,000 statement credits from Barclays Bank. Both are worth approximately $1,300 in value.

Alliant Visa Signature - An Unlimited 3% Cashback Card

Alliant Credit Union has made its Visa Signature 3% cashback card public on April 2017. The highlights are 3% cashback on all purchases for the first year 2.5% cashback thereafter No foreign transaction fees $59 annual fee, wavied the first year Large credit line since its a Visa Signature I personally tried applying, but they are very strict with regards to income requirements. Since the card is a Visa Signature, they generally require annual income north of $100,000. I was rejected and offered the Platinum Rewards Visa and a chance to upgrade it to the Visa Signature card in 6 months if my income could reach that level. They perform income verification according to data points on Doctor of Credit's blog, but it is random. In order to receive the cashback rewards, you can redeem it as a statement credit or as a deposit to an Alliant checking or savings account.
